A look back at the beginnings of the Bundled Payment for Care Improvement (BPCI) program in post-acute care.

The goal of the Medicare Bundled Payment for Care Improvement (BPCI) initiative was to demonstrate whether or not the payment model could actually change provider behavior and result in improved quality at a lower cost. Nearly 80 percent of those initial experiments involved post-acute care.

In this interview, Jade Gong and Brian Fuller, explore the early challenges and opportunities of the first BPCI initiative.
